Default Settings in Discovery Configuration
Voyager's Default Configuration Settings allow you to fine-tune a range of indexing options.  This article addresses the Settings tab in the Default Settings section.
To access Default Settings:
Go to Manage Voyager > Discovery > Discovery Configuration > Default SettingsÂ
Select the Settings tab
Â
Extract Linked Data
Voyager will extract local copies of the LYR and XML files from MXD and GDB layers, where present. Keep in mind that this may require additional storage, depending on the nature of the data.
Index Debug Information
If you are troubleshooting issues with the Voyager support team, use this option to  include debug information in the index during the discovery process.Â
Index Access Control Information
This setting enables Voyager to add access control list (ACL) information from Windows Active Directory directly to the index for every file discovered.Â
If this setting is set to yes, then the 'File system access controls list' option should also be enabled on the Manage Voyager>Security>Access page. This option will filter search results to only what a Voyager user has read access according to Windows Active Directory settings. Note: For this setting a Voyager Pro or Voyager Basic with Enterprise Security extension is needed.
Index Extended File Attributes
This will extract extended file attributes from data records. Extended file attributes can include the author of a document, the character encoding of a plain-text document, a checksum, cryptographic hash or digital certificate and discretionary access control information.
Calculate MD5 Checksum
You can accurately detect duplicate data with in your index by comparing MD5 checksums. Note that this calculation is slower than the default methods of detecting duplicates (using a content hash and schema hash), so should only be employed when a high degree of accuracy is needed.
Read XML Metadata
XML metadata often contains information that explicitly augments the attributes that Voyager can glean directly from the items that it ingests. If this option is selected, Voyager will process information from any XML document that accompanies an indexed item according to the XPATH selection rules configured in the Pipeline > Metadata Extraction settings.
Cache All Metadata Files
Voyager can display simple XML metadata in the UI.  This works well when the index and data will stay together. If you intend to index data and show the contents disconnected from the data, you may want to store a copy of the metadata XML in voyager's internal cache.
Process All Records
This setting will force Voyager to create an MD5 checksum/hash for all files discovered regardless of whether Voyager can read the file format. This is useful for identifying duplicate files that Voyager does not yet read.
