Advancing Interoperable Earth Intelligence: Voyager's Collaboration with GEO, AmeriGEO and USGEO
Voyager Search develops spatially enabled data cataloging and information-retrieval software that helps organizations discover and use geospatial and non-geospatial content at scale. Its platform emphasizes interoperability, open standards, and federated search to break down data silos and accelerate analysis and decision-making.
Engagement with GEO and AmeriGEO
Voyager Search engages with the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) community to advance open, standards-based Earth Intelligence. GEO now lists Voyager Search among its partners/associates on its official site, reflecting a recent induction into the GEO network.
Within GEO’s regional structure, AmeriGEO (the Americas regional GEO) coordinates collaboration across North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean on shared priorities such as disasters, health, water, and biodiversity. Our focus on interoperable discovery and cataloging aligns directly with AmeriGEO’s mission.
Participation in GEO and AmeriGEO Events and Training
Voyager Search participates in annual events that convene GEO and AmeriGEO stakeholders, such as AmeriGEO Week and GEO Week. These gatherings emphasize cross-organization collaboration, training, and demonstrations of interoperable solutions—themes that match Voyager Search’s product strengths in breaking down data silos, federated search and standards-based integration and data driven collaboration and decision making.
Voyager Search’s engagement in these events include:
Presentations on OGC Pilot Work – Delivered talks and live demonstrations showcasing Voyager Search’s role in the OGC Disaster Pilot 2023 (DP23) and OGC Climate and Disaster Resilience Pilot 2024 (CDRP24), emphasizing how the Voyager platform supports interoperable data discovery and disaster resilience.
Training Sessions on the Voyager Platform – Led sessions on how to index and integrate data from government (federal, state, and local), academic, organizational, and industry sources using Voyager Search’s software and metadata-enrichment capabilities.
AmeriGEO Week 2024 Training – Conducted a focused training on programmatic data integration and indexing through utilizing ArcGIS Notebooks, illustrating automated ingestion and enrichment workflows.
Workshops and Earth Intelligence Discussions – Participated in GEO Week and AmeriGEO Week workshops, contributing to panels and discussions on Earth Intelligence, open standards, and strategies to break down data silos and foster collaboration across global Earth observation communities.
Collaboration on OGC Pilot Projects
Through the support and collaboration with GEO and AmeriGEO, Voyager Search has participated in several Open Geospatial Consortium pilot projects including:
OGC Disaster Pilot 2023 (DP23): Voyager Search collaborated with GEO and AmeriGEO on DP23 to demonstrate how standards-based cataloging and federated search can integrate diverse, disaster-related datasets. The Voyager platform supported rapid, interoperable data discovery to improve preparedness and response for both natural and human-made disasters.
OGC Climate and Disaster Resilience Pilot 2024 (CDRP24): Building on the success of DP23, Voyager Search again partnered with GEO and AmeriGEO in CDRP24. This pilot expanded the focus to long-term climate resilience, showing how Voyager’s metadata enrichment and interoperability capabilities enable seamless access to critical environmental and geospatial data across agencies and international partners.
These pilots demonstrate how standards-aligned catalogs can surface heterogeneous content (web services, datasets, reports) quickly and consistently across organizations which are core GEO objectives.
Alignment with USGEO Priorities
The U.S. Group on Earth Observations (USGEO) coordinates U.S. interagency Earth observation activities and engages with regional GEO efforts such as AmeriGEO. Voyager Search’s strengths—automated metadata generation, open-standards interoperability, and federated discovery—map to USGEO’s emphasis on improving access and use of Earth observations for societal benefit.
Looking Ahead
As GEO and AmeriGEO continue to drive regional and global cooperation, Voyager Search will support its partners with interoperable, standards-based cataloging and discovery—helping communities move from fragmented data to coordinated, actionable Earth Intelligence.
