What is Referenced Data?

In some cases, data items in your index can refer to additional data stored in a separate location. This additional data is Referenced Data, and includes all of the items that your indexed data refer to or draw information from. It can include image files, databases, office documents, source code, GIS files and other data types. For example, MXD files store the path to a source dataset and other layer properties, including symbology.

If your data set includes Referenced Data, Voyager will show a Referenced Data location on the Locations page.

NOTE: Voyager only indexes referenced data once, even if more than one record in the index refers to that data.

Some examples of Referenced Data include:

  • ArcGIS Server Referring to Multiple Map Services

  • HTML file referring to KML/KMZ files

  • WMS Service Referring to other WMS Service Layers
