Configuring Voyager to Share Results with Geocortex Essentials

Voyager can expose the contents of its index to Geocortex sites, however it will only return service-based data to search requests from Geocortex, since these result types are most appropriate to be added as Geocortex Essentials site contents.

Geocortex searches the Voyager index through Voyager's Atom RSS feed. To configure Voyager's Atom RSS feed for interrogation by Geocortex, you need to edit the appearance.dex file, which is found in {install_dir}/data/config.  If this file does not exist, you will need to create it.

Creating the appearance.dex File

To create the appearance.dex file if it does not already exist:

  1. Go to Manage Voyager > Settings > Appearance > Feed Settings

  2. Click Save (this creates the file with the current settings - there is no need to change anything before saving)

  3. Go to {install_dir}/data/config (for example C:/voyager/server_1.9.6/data/config)

  4. Edit appearance.dex as described below:

Editing the appearance.dex File

  1. Open appearance.dex in a text editor

  2. Change the value of  includeDescriptiveRelValue from false to true

  3. Save the file

  4. Restart the Voyager process or service
